Frequently Asked Questions
Prices vary depending on a few factors including size, materials, prep/design work, execution/performance of the work, and miscellaneous factors (travel, parking, etc). The best way to price out your project is to contact me with your project idea and include as many details as possible.
I'd recommend reaching out as soon as possible about your project. I am generally booked months in advance and some times of the year are busier than others (weddings, corporate conferences, etc).
For murals: Not all surfaces are created equal. A few factors are taken into consideration when estimating the length of a project. These include the texture of the surface, the level of detail in the piece, and temperature/weather conditions, just to name a few.
For chalkboards: Once the concept art has been finalized, turnaround time is really quick- usually 24 hours or less. This is by far the most frequently asked question! Unfortunately, sidewalk chalk is water-soluble which means that it will begin to wash away as soon as it gets wet.
Funny you should ask- I wrote an entire blog post about it. Check it out!
Absolutely- once a contract is signed and the deposit is received. Due to the high volume of projects at any given time, I cannot create concept art for a client to help them decide whether or not they want to hire me. Thank you for your understanding.
For a $50 nonrefundable fee, I can scout out a space prior to any other agreement. If you decide to proceed with the project, this scouting fee will go towards the full amount of the project. If you decide not to move forward, the fee is nonrefundable.
No, I do not paint or primer walls for chalk projects.
No, I do not rent chalkboards.
Generally, my clients source the chalkboards that I use. I can do this as a service, for an extra fee.
Yes! This option was developed for clients who leave chalkboards outside and don't want to worry about rain or other potential damage. I have a permanent chalk treatment that won't be affected by rain or curious hands.
No, I give my clients the option to exclude their project from my portfolio. You can choose this option when you are signing the contract, as this information is included in that document.
Yes, for projects that take place less than a month out, I charge a rush fee of $200 on top of the price of the piece. Please keep in mind that I am not usually available to take on rush projects as I am booked months out and rush projects are usually done to replace cancellations in my schedule.
Yes! I have a few tricks up my sleeve for venues who don't want me to work directly on their pavement or for clients who have time-sensitive projects and need me to work at my home studio. Please contact me for more information!
Every project I create for a client is exactly that: for that client. My clients get to keep my chalk art if it's on a mobile surface (chalkboard, etc.). Chalk art makes for a really cool conversation piece when displayed at your business!
The quality of work rendered will reduce after it is created. Pedestrian foot traffic and motorized/non-motorized vehicles will damage and deteriorate the work. Even morning dew can have an impact on the longevity of the chalk art. I strongly recommend pressure washing to help expedite the deterioration process and to remove the work from the pavement.
Each year, I take on up to two chalk art projects as donations to causes I’m passionate about. If your organization aligns with values I support - such as arts education, social justice, mental health, etc. - I’d love to hear more. Please reach out with details, and I’ll let you know if it’s a good fit!
